August News

Fáilte and welcome to our August edition of Am Seacláid.

FUN FACT: Some scientists now say that eating dark chocolate every day is better for you than eating vegetables!!

With July boasting 2 substantial Chocolate days, World Chocolate Day on July 8th and Milk Chocolate Day on July 28th we have had every excuse to indulge this month…and for many on their holidays, it was music to their ears! Working in a chocolate factory, every day seems to be a Chocolate Day but we love nothing more than to spoil our customers on days like this… We had 2 delicious Chocolate Hamper giveaways this month with Belinda Daly from Co. Dublin winning our World Chocolate Day Hamper and Sharon O’ Keefe in the UK winning our Milk Chocolate Day hamper. Huge congratulations again to both and you can check out our amazing hampers here.

Chocolate MarshmallowsHappy Monday

The Breakfast Republic Show on 2FM, one of Ireland’s Top Radio Stations run’s a weekly competition called ‘Happy Monday’. Like many other shows, Breakfast Republic was inundated with requests for songs to brighten up people’s Monday mornings, so after consideration of an alternative, Happy Monday was born. Every Monday morning, they ask listeners to text in something that they could do or get them that would make their listener happy. Requests came in hard and fast with desires for hair straighteners, Laptops and even an engagement ring! You will be happy to read that that the Hair straightener was supplied by Peter Mark, the Laptop, from Harvey Norman and the engagement ring from the incredibly generous Paul Sheeran Jewellers! There is no limit to what 2FM will do to make their listeners happy on a Monday morning…

Listening one Monday morning was Ria Brown from Co. Wicklow, who was planning a 2-week trip around Ireland with friends from Australia. She texted the show and asked if they could make her happy with a 2 weeks supply of chocolate for the trip. Now touring around Ireland is exciting enough but to tour around Ireland with a supply of chocolate sounds heavenly. So we jumped on the phone and offered Ria and her friends a hamper full of delicious Skelligs Chocolate to bring with them on their trip! You can see from the pictures below that our Skelligs Chocolate Hamper made Ria and her friends very happy indeed…Here are some pictures from her trip so far!

Skelligs Chocolate Factory Extension ~ Update

With builder’s holiday’s here in Ireland, Chocolate machinery companies on summer holidays in Europe it has left Colm with a few more headaches than he would like this month! The building is almost 80% finished but the last 20% or so is really taking its toll now. Trying to juggle builders, painters, electricians and a big hole in the wall has really worn him out!! We still have a big hole in the side of the building which can’t be filled in until the machinery is gone in upstairs… so fingers crossed that next month we hope to report the extension has been finished and is ready to move into! Here are some images from work over the past few weeks.

Am Seacláid, The Skelligs Chocolate Blog Team

  • Thank you for choosing Skelligs Chocolate. We work hard at making the best possible chocolate we can and we do our best to make sure it arrives in the same condition as it left us.

Here in Ireland, hot weather is rarely an issue, but what is it like where you are sending this chocolate? We have no control over the way it is transported and how long it stays in hot trucks or depots.

Unfortunately, we cannot take responsibility for the condition of the chocolate you send.

If you are happy to take responsibility please just tick the box and proceed.

If you would like to discuss this with us please email us at or call us on 00 353 66 9479119 to discuss what we can do for you.

    Tips for Warm Weather Shipping:

    • Please be aware that we use a registered postal delivery service so all packages are tracked and must be signed for on delivery. If there is no one available to sign for the package, please be aware your chocolate will be put back on the truck and stored in the nearest depot for collection.
    • If possible, ship to a business address. Businesses usually receive packages earlier in the morning and someone is always onsite to receive the package. This way your product isn’t exposed to the hot sun all day.
    • After receiving your package, let it rest at room temperature to provide items time to set before opening.

Apologies but we are unable to Ship to the USA

With excessive heat related issues from our couriers we, regrettably, cannot send any chocolates to America.

This will be reviewed at the end of August
