We are a family run business with, as far as we are aware, the only fully ‘open plan’ chocolate production facility anywhere in Ireland! Here you can see the chocolates being made, ask questions and taste the freshly made treats! Oh and we do have a fantastic new mural based on the Willy Wonka factory. But please note this is not like that film (Willy Wonka) where all sorts of magic can be made to appear. We live in the real world and have to deal with all health and safety and usual business issues that surround any food enterprise.
If you are thinking of visiting us for the first time then please be aware we are NOT a massive chocolate factory like some of the huge commercial chocolate makers you may have seen on TV.
Overlooking Skelligs Rock
As our location is very remote, we are not open 7 days a week all year round. We do have a seasonal cafe (Easter till September) serving freshly made cakes and desserts along with teas, coffees and our speciality… deliciously rich ‘real chocolate’ hot chocolate!
Please note – ‘The Skelligs Chocolate Café’ does not serve lunch type food – This is strictly a treats only cafe. (Open from Easter to mid September each year [excluding Covid restrictions]).
If you have been to visit us before then ‘many thanks’, as we are always delighted to have return visitors. We are constantly trying to improve the experience so hopefully you will see something new on you return.
Also, there is no specific ‘tour’ (and therefore no entrance charge) – we are a friendly and welcoming business located in a truly stunning location overlooking the Skelligs Rock. We are fortunate to have St. Finian’s Bay beside us (100m) great for surfing and a further 100m brings you to the new children’s playground in The Glen.
On the famous Ring of Kerry
As part of a trip around the Ring of Kerry this is a perfect stop (during the summer), and as we are only an hour from Tralee or Killarney you can easily fit us in as something to do in south Kerry. On a day trip you will see fabulous views at ‘Mountain Stage’ just outside Glenbeigh, Valentia Island (by ferry) with the site of the first transatlantic cable, Portmagee which is one of Ireland’s cutest (working) fishing villages. We are just 15 minutes off the main Ring Of Kerry road.
